"The Man Who Worked Harder" is a moral tale about the value of a hard work. The character in this story is a farm servant who makes one dollar(kirshy -- ቅáˆáˆº) a year. He works incredibly hard for his wage, but he always challenges himself to work harder. This story was recorded in Edmonton, but it was originally heard in Asmara one evening in the 70s. As the storyteller says, it was a turbulent and violent time in Asmara, and on this particular evening some had neighbours gathered inside a home to avoid danger.
