Notes:
This is Tekie Tesfai's Tigrinyan translation of George Orwell's novel, published just after the achievement of Eritrean independence. Tekie Tesfai is also the man behind the large "Modern Tigrinyan Dictionary", which reportedly took him 13 years to compile. He has also translated "Selected Fables", a book of European and Arabian fables. Orwell's novel seems to resonate powerfully in the Tigrinya language. It's agricultural setting is well suited to Eritrea, but more importantly, the political themes are quite relevant to Eritrean history.
