Notes:
This is a bi-annual journal published by the Research and Information Centre on Eritrea(RICE). The journal presents broad ranging scholarly articles on Eritrean society. This particular edition of the journal includes Haile Bokre's "A Brief History of Eritrean Literature." Bokre's history begins at the ancient Eritrean port of Adulis, established by the Greeks, and continues all the way to the large number of publications produced by the Eritrean liberation movement in the 1960s and 70s, and the very recent introduction of computer technology to the ancient Geez script of the Tigrinya language. In fact, it was a book authored by Bokre -- "Ancient Tales, Riddles, and Proverbs of Eritrea" -- which was the very first publication which used computer software designed for the Geez script of the Tigrinya language.
